Dallas/Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans (16-41-8-3), ECHL affiliate of the Utah Hockey Club, powered by Energy Transfer Partners, lost to the Idaho Steelheads (36-23-8-1) on Saturday night 7-2 in regulation at CUTX Event Center, in front of an announced crowd of 6,273.
Idaho swept the two-game series, putting up seven goals in both contests on their way to a 7-3 win on Friday night, and a 7-2 win Saturday. The Steelheads also went undefeated against Allen this season, winning all six games.
Defenseman Quinn Warmuth got things going for the Americans early on, with his seventh goal of the season serving as the first of the game for Allen. Goaltender Luke Richardson recorded an assist on the Warmuth goal, good for his second point of the season.
Allen’s lone star of the game was forward Nick Isaacson, who scored late in the second period to bring the Americans within a goal of the Idaho lead. Isaacson now has five goals on the season, while also tallying five assists.
Richardson started for the Americans for his fifth consecutive game, stopping 42 of 49 shots. Allen recorded 56 penalty minutes on 17 infractions, giving Idaho ten power-play opportunities.
With the loss, the Americans fell to 16-42-8-3, sitting in eighth place in the Mountain Division. Allen will hit the road to play the Wichita Thunder Sunday afternoon at the INTRUST Bank Arena.
