Friday’s Recap: The Americans lost a heartbreaker on Friday night falling to the Tahoe Knight Monsters 3-2 in overtime. Tahoe never led the game until the game winner in OT. The Americans took a 2-0 second period lead on goals from Jared Westcott (4) and Quinn Warmuth (3). Before the end of the period the Knight Monsters cut the lead in half to make it a 2-1 Americans lead heading to the final frame. The Americans held a slight advantage in shots of goal 24-23. Isaac Johnson would even the game before the halfway point of the third period scoring his fourth of the season at the 7:40 mark evening the game at 2-2. Both teams would have a chance on the power play late but overtime would be in the cards on Friday. The Americans started the extra session with more than a minute of 4-on-3 hockey but had zero shots on goal during the man advantage. Former Allen defenseman Slava Demin would eventually end the game with his first goal of the season handing the Americans their 11th straight loss overall and 11th road loss in a row. Allen looks to end the long losing streak on Saturday night. Game time is a half hour earlier at 9:00 PM CST.
