Dallas/Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, dropped the series finale to the Utah Grizzlies 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in Allen, in front of a sellout crowd of 6,009 at CUTX Event Center.
The Utah Grizzlies scored three, third period goals to erase a 2-1 Americans lead and send Allen Americans to their second straight loss in the final game of a three-game series.
Chase Perry played well making his second straight start for the Americans stopping 43 shots, but the offense was held to just two goals. Easton Brodzinski extended his point streak to five games, scoring his 16th goal of the year. That tied Colby McAuley for the team lead. Tarun Fizer had the other goal for the Americans, his first since joining the team. It was the first time the Americans lost a series in their last four.
“We played well the first two periods and then our compete level went away in the third period”, said Americans Assistant Coach Aaron Gens, on the CW 33 postgame show. “Our goalie gave us a chance to win the game and we didn’t take advantage of that.”
The Americans return to action on Monday afternoon at 1:10 pm against the Tulsa Oilers at 1:10 PM CST. TICKETS!
