Oilers Play Spoiler on Star Wars Night: The Tulsa Oilers handed the Americans a 4-0 defeat last Saturday night at CUTX Event Center, in front of a sellout crowd of 6,275 on Star Wars Night in Allen. The Oilers did most of their damage in the opening period scoring three times against Americans starter Anson Thornton. Tulsa had a season-high 24 shots in the opening period, the most given up by the Americans in a single period this season. The previous high came the night before in Wichita, when the Thunder put up 22 shots in the second frame. Tulsa’s Sasha Pastujov led the way for the Oilers scoring a pair of first period goals (6 and 7) and finished with a season-high nine shots. The nine shots were the most against the Americans by an opponent this season.
Americans Shutout at Home Again: The Allen Americans were blanked for the third time in four home games this season on home ice, losing to the Tulsa Oilers last Saturday night 4-0 at Credit Union of Texas Event Center. The Americans are 0-3-1 at home this season, outscored by their opponents 22-4 in the four home losses. The only point secured on home ice this season was on October 30th in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Wichita Thunder.
Power Play Woes: The Allen Americans power went 0-for-4 on Saturday night in a 4-0 loss to Tulsa. The Americans Power Play ranks 24th overall out of 29 teams at 12.0 %. The Power Play on home ice ranks 27th in the league at 0.0 %. (0-for-11).
Americans Asuchak Providing Strong Numbers: The Americans longest tenured forward Spencer Asuchak, had his biggest game since the 21-22 season, scoring a goal and adding three assists last Friday night in a 4-2 win over Wichita, where he collected his 400th career point. Asuchak is tied for the team lead in assists with six. He leads the team in plus/minus at +4. He’s second overall on the team in points with seven (1 goal and 6 assists). He’s second overall on the team in points per game at 0.88. He is tied for the team lead in Insurance Goals with 1.
