The Americans outscored Kansas City 3-0 in the second period to take the lead for good. The Mavericks added a goal late to inch a bit closer, but the Americans held on for the win and moved to within one win of closing out the series. The winner of this series will face the winner of Utah and Idaho, with the Steelheads leading that series 3-2. Utah had a 2-0 series lead winning both games in Idaho but dropped three straight overtime games and now face elimination tonight.
