AMERICANS TAKE GAME 5, LEAD THE SERIES 3-2

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators (NHL), beat the Kansas City Mavericks 4-3 on Saturday night in Game 5 of their best of seven series. The Americans lead the series 3-2 and can close it out on Monday night.

The Americans put the game away in the second period outscoring the Mavericks 3-0. Eric Williams, Colton Hargrove, and Liam Finlay all scored in that second frame. Finlay’s goal turned out to be the game winner. It was his first of the playoffs. The Americans outshot KC 12-11.

Kansas City cut the lead to a single goal with two goals in the final six and a half minutes of the game, but the Americans held on for the victory.

Kevin Mandolese won his third game of the playoffs stopping 31of 34 Kansas City shots. He has played every minute of the postseason for the Americans.

Kris Myllari scored for the second game in a row. His second of the postseason and third point of the playoffs. Neither team scored on the power play as the Americans went 0-for-4. Kansas City was 0-for-1 but did score a shorthanded goal.
