Amazing Comeback: For the third straight game the home team took a 3-0 lead. This time, Idaho was on top early with three first-period goals. Jade Miller (2), Nick Canade (1), and Ty Pelton-Byce (2) all scored in the opening frame but the ending was different this time. The Americans cut the lead to 3-2 in the second period on goals by Danny Katic (2) on the power play, and Djibril Toure (1), and the Americans were back in business. Allen tied the game early in the third frame, on Brayden Watts third goal of the playoffs, forcing overtime to settle the score. Both teams traded chances in the extra session, but Colby McAuley's deflection of a Sam Sedley shot buried the Steelheads, as the Americans grabbed a 4-3 overtime win and a 3-0 series lead. The Americans can eliminate the Steelheads with a victory on Monday night.
Katic and Watts at the Top: Brayden Watts and Danny Katic are tied for the ECHL scoring lead with five points each. Watts has three goals in the series. He has points in 12 straight games including a nine-game point streak to end the regular season. Danny Katic scored for the second time in the playoffs. He has a three-game point streak (2 goals and 3 assists).
Change in Goal: The Americans changed goalies after the first period putting Jackson Parsons in for Brett Mirwald. Mirwald gave up three goals on 13 shots in the opening frame. He has been spectacular since signing with the Americans, holding a 5-0-1 record. Jackson Parsons stopped all 25 shots he faced to get the win. It was Parsons first game between the pipes since March 29th. The victory was his first postseason win.
On the Brink: With the Americans overtime win on Sunday, they are one win away from sweeping the Steelheads. The Americans have outscored Idaho 13-6 in the series
Toure First. Djibril Toure scored his first goal in an Allen sweater on Sunday night and almost scored a second when he hit the post in the third period. It was his second career postseason goal. The other came with Orlando in 2024-2025.
