Americans Blank Oilers: The Allen Americans swept a three-game series from the Tulsa Oilers winning by a score of 6-0 on Saturday night in Oklahoma. The Americans scored three times in the first period. Spencer Asuchak (6), Brayden Watts (11) and Trevor LeDonne (2). Danny Katic (9), Sam Sedley (2) and Chase Maxwell (1) all scored in the middle frame. With the 6-0 victory, the Americans swept the three-game series with Tulsa.
First Timer: Americans Rookie Forward Chase Maxwell scored his first professional goal on Saturday night in Tulsa. Brad Morrison’s pass to Maxwell at the 2:53 mark of the second period gave the Americans a 4-0 lead. It was Maxwell’s second professional point.
Streak Reaches Five: The Allen Americans extended their winning streak to five games with Saturdays 6-0 win over the Tulsa Oilers. With the Americans victory over the Oilers, combined with Wichita’s loss to Tahoe, Allen has a three-point lead on the fifth place Thunder with one game in hand.
Tendeck Shines in Victory: Americans netminder David Tendeck stopped all 42 shots he faced on Saturday night earning a 6-0 shutout of the Tulsa Oilers. it was the second shutout by an Americans goalie in the last eight days. Marco Costantini shutout the Rapid City Rush last Friday night 4-0 in South Dakota.
Head-to-Head with Kansas City: The Americans and Mavericks met two times earlier this season with Kansas City winning both games in Allen on opening weekend.
On the Power Play: The Americans went 1-for-2 on the power play on Saturday night in Tulsa, as Brayden Watts scored with the man advantage. The Americans power play ranks 24th overall in the league (14-for-90). Allen has scored a power play goal in four straight games.
