Dallas/Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’S Ottawa Senators, and AHL’s Belleville Senators, pulled off another miracle comeback beating the Adirondack Thunder 2-1 in overtime on Saturday night in front of a packed house of just under 6,000 fans in Allen (5,992).
For the third straight game the Americans trailed late in the third period and for the third game in a row the Americans tied the score and won the game in the extra session. Liam Finlay tied the game with 4:09 on the clock scoring his 11th goal of the year. Colby McAuley and Ryan Gagnon had the assists.
“The crowd was electric tonight,” said Finlay. “Super proud of the way we played down the stretch. Nobody on our bench was giving up. We knew if we tied the game, we would score the second goal to get the win. It’s so much fun as a team playing in meaningful games down the stretch.”
Overtime was in the cards again. It didn’t take long for Liam Finlay’s prediction to come true. Hank Crone brought the puck into the Thunder zone and created a scoring chance. The loose puck made it into the slot where Kris Myllari finished it off, scoring his 10th goal of the season to win it in overtime.
“The boys were incredibly patient tonight,” said Myllari. Adirondack plays a great systematic game and we stayed patient the entire game and were rewarded. Mark Sinclair played great between the pipes. So happy for him. He deserved the win. We have one more game tomorrow and I can promise you we’ll come out ready to play.
It was the fourth straight overtime win for the Americans who moved within two points for fourth place Utah with two games in hand.
The series finale is Sunday afternoon at 2:10 PM CDT. Tickets are available NOW online at the Americans Website!
