Idaho goal

Boise, Idaho – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators (NHL) were shutout by the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday night 5-0, in front of a packed house of 5,027 at Idaho Central Arena.

Idaho scored what turned out to be the game winning goal just 1:11 into the hockey game as Wade Murphy scored his 13th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Steelheads. That would be the only goal they would need. AJ White added his 19th at the 16:47 mark to make it 2-0. Idaho outshot the Americans 10-7 in the opening frame.

Nick Canade made it 3-0 Idaho in the second period, firing a shot from the high slot past Luke Peressini for his fourth goal of the season. Zane Franklin (15) and Jack Becker (10) added two more in the third period as the Americans were blown out by Idaho 5-0. It was the first time the Americans were shutout this season.

The loss ended the 20-game point streak of Jack Combs. He was three games shy of Colton Hargrove’s 23-game streak which ended last month.

The Americans return home to face the Utah Grizzlies for three games starting next Thursday night.

Americans Postgame Quotes:

Chad Costello: “We didn’t play well tonight. It’s a loss and we’re disappointed. We will get right back to work on Monday and get ready for Utah. No excuses. We didn’t play well enough to win.”
