Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL), dropped Game 5 to the Rapid City Rush by a score of 6-3 on Saturday night in Allen, eliminating the Americans 4-1.

The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Chad Butcher put the Americans up 1-0 in the first and then Kris Myllari scored on the power play to give the Americans the 2-0 lead in the second frame. Unfortunately, the lead would not last. Rapid City outscored the Americans 5-1 in the third period to knock the Americans out of the playoffs and send the Rush on to Round 2 of the playoffs with the opponent pending.

“It was a tough ending,” noted Americans forward Chad Costello. We battled hard tonight to extend the series, but credit them for battling back to get the win. We are all disappointed, but we will be back here in October ready to get it going again.”

With the series victory on Saturday night, Rapid City will face the winner of Tulsa and Utah. The Grizzlies lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Monday night in Utah.
