Dallas, Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, faced the Wichita Thunder on Wednesday night at Credit Union of Texas Event Center and it was the Thunder coming out on top 2-1.
The two teams combined for 11 shots total in the opening period. Wichita opened the scoring in the first period as former Americans forward Kyle Crnkovic scored his 23rd of the season as he was set up by Peter Bates at the 2:57 mark. The Americans responded two minutes later as Harrison Blaisdell put a backhander past Wichita Matt Davis for his 14th of the season to even the score at 1-1.
Only one goal in the second period and it came late in the frame as Peter Bates scored at the 15:03 mark on the power play. His 15th goal of the year from Noah Beck and Michal Stinil to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead. Wichita had a two-shot advantage 18-16 after the middle frame.
Neither team scored in the third period although the Americans had some great chances down the stretch. The Americans pulled Jackson Parsons late but we unable to tie the game. The loss keeps the Americans tied with Tahoe in the standings. Each team with 52 points.
The Americans hit the road for the weekend for three games as they face the Tulsa Oilers starting on Friday night in Oklahoma.
