Dallas/Allen, Texas-– The Allen Americans (14-33-8-2), ECHL affiliate of the Utah Hockey Club, powered by Energy Transfer Partners, dropped game two of three to the Jacksonville Icemen (36-16-5-1) on Friday night at Credit Union of Texas Event Center, in front of a crowd of 4,320.
It was a much tighter game on Friday night as the Americans were only down 2-0 seven minutes into the third period, but Jacksonville forward Olivier Nadeau continued his dominant play against the Americans scoring his fourth goal in two games to give the Icemen a three-goal cushion.
Jacksonville added a little more insurance in the third period as Liam Coughlin scored his second of the night and 14th of the year to give the Icemen a 4-0 lead.
Matt Vernon made the start for the Icemen completing the shutout stopping all 28 shots he faced. It was the sixth time this season the Americans have been shutout by an opponent.
The Americans lost two players during the game. One due to injury, Nick Isaacson, left the game in the second period with a lower body injury. Jay Powell was given a game misconduct for boarding and also exited the game in the second.
With the loss on Friday night the Americans dropped to 0-for-5 against the Eastern Conference this season. The final chance for a victory comes on Saturday night with the finale of the three-game series.
