Boise, Idaho – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, and AHL’s Belleville Senators, earned a point in an overtime loss to Idaho.
The Americans trailed 1-0 in the first period when Easton Brodzinski deflected a Ryan Gagnon pass into the Idaho net for his 17th goal of the season. Colby McAuley had the secondary assist.
Allen would grab the lead for the first time in the game late in the second period as Hank Crone took a pass from Eric Williams and fired one into the net with 15 seconds left in the period. That would be the only lead of the game for the Americans who took a 2-1 lead to the locker room.
After a scoreless third period, the game would go to overtime. It took less than a minute for the game to end. Ty Pelton-Byce scored his 10th of the season just 58 seconds into overtime for the game winner. The Americans lost in the extra session for the second straight game.
“We played hard tonight” said Americans Head Coach Chad Costello. “This game could have gone either way. Marco Costantini played great and gave us a chance to win.”
Costantini stopped 35 of 38 Idaho shots. He has a point or more in all three of his starts for the Americans this season.
Ty Fournier left the game on Wednesday night with an upper body injury. His status for Friday is unknown.
The two teams will take Thursday night off and resume the series on Friday night at 8:10 PM CST.
