A seasoned blueliner in the ECHL and the Allen Americans, Eric Roy returns to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for the 2021-22 season.
Roy played his major junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League for the Brandon Wheat Knights. In five seasons, Roy posted 224 points (53G, 171A) through 364 games. During his time with Brandon, Roy played in the CHL Top Prospects Game and was drafted 135th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
The Beauval, Saskatchewan native made his professional debut in 2015 for the Allen Americans. In his first season, Roy split time with the Americans and the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters. He recorded 75 games with the Americans and 10 games with the Monsters, logging 51 points (19G, 32A) and 4 points (1G, 3A), respectively. The following three seasons, Roy skated in 136 games for Allen and compiled 78 points (29G, 49A) before being traded to the Wichita Thunder. Roy finished the 2018-19 season with the Norfolk Admirals, making 55 appearances and 18 points (6G, 12A) between the two clubs. Roy did not play in the 2020-21 season.
This will be Roy’s fifth season in professional hockey, and fourth with the Americans.
