Allen, TX native Ben Owen is back with his hometown Allen Americans after seeing time with the team in 2018 and 2019.
The defenseman played a year of major junior hockey with the Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League in 2013-14, logging 5 points (1G, 4A) and 66 penalty minutes in 36 appearances.
Owen then went on to play for Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin for two seasons. From 2014-16, the blueliner played in 38 contests and scored 16 points (5G, 11A). For the next two seasons, Owen appeared in 31 games for St. Mary’s University Minnesota in Winona. Owen tallied 12 points (3G, 9A) and 33 penalty minutes.
After playing 43 games for the Evansville Thunderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League, Owen made his debut for the Allen Americans. He saw the ice in 6 games and logged 2 helpers. The next season, he played in 12 games with the Americans before being dealt to the Reading Royals (ECHL).
This season will be Owen’s third year in the professional ranks.
