Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (NHL) announced today the club will host its first ever college hockey game on January 21st at Allen Event Center when Texas A&M faces the University of Texas at 4:05 PM prior to the Americans game against Wichita.
“It’s fun to keep the UT vs A&M rivalry alive through hockey and be able to give back to the youth hockey community, said Texas A&M Head Coach Sean Boyle. “It’s also a great chance for us to bring some visibility to our new conference, the TCHC and to ACHA hockey in general.
The Northern Division features Texas Tech, TCU, North Texas and Dallas Baptist, while the Southern Division includes UTEP, UT, A&M and Texas State. Teams play a 20 game regular season. Sean Boyle, Head Coach for Texas A&M is also the League’s inaugural commissioner.

About the Americans
The Allen Americans play in the ECHL, the premiere AA hockey league in North America. The Americans were established in 2009 and have won four AA championships in seven full seasons of minor pro hockey. In those seven seasons Allen has qualified for the playoffs every year with five trips to the league finals in that time. Allen is in its third season in the ECHL after playing five years in the now defunct Central Hockey League.
