Tulsa, OK – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, won their second straight overtime game in Tulsa. Jordan Topping was the hero on Tuesday night ending the game at 0:57 seconds of the extra session to clinch a playoff spot for Allen.

The game remained scoreless for sixty minutes of play with both goaltenders standing tall. Both teams had chances on the power play throughout regulation but neither goalie blinked.

The teams headed to overtime both earning a point. Two high-sticking penalties ended up being the difference in the game. One late in the third period and the second in overtime. Stepan Falkovsky, who left the game early in the third period with an injury came back to setup the game winner. Jordan Topping knocked the rebound in the net past Tulsa goalie Devin Williams to give the Americans the 1-0 overtime win.

“Shorty (Andrew Shortridge) was great,” said Americans forward Jordan Topping. “He stopped everything that came his way. It’s back to work tomorrow afternoon and then get on the bus and head to Kansas City for a busy weekend.”

The Allen Americans clinched a playoff spot for the 10th time in 11 seasons. The Americans play the Kansas City Mavericks on the road on Friday night, and then host Tulsa on Saturday. It’s doubleheader hockey night in Allen on Saturday, with the 11th annual Police vs Fire charity hockey game beginning at 5:05 pm.
