Allen, Texas– Allen Americans Head Coach and General Manager Steve Martinson announced today the club has suspended All Star Forward and ECHL leading scorer, Jack Combs.
Combs accepted an offer to play in Europe and will leave the team immediately. In 32 games this season with the first place Americans, he accumulated 22 goals and 34 assists for 56 points. Combs also led the league in Game Winning Goals with six, and power play assists with eleven.
“It’s tough to lose our fourth, point per game player, this season,” said Steve Martinson. “ Jack helped us get to where we are now, and I wasn’t expecting to have him all season. It’s easier to recruit new players to a first place team.”
The native of St Louis, Missouri, turned pro in the 2009-2010 season, and played in 146 ECHL games over that time. Combs had 144 games at the American Hockey League level, scoring 75 points total with six different clubs.
The Americans are home this Friday and Saturday night against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 pm. Tickets are on sale at Allen Event Center or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Call (972) 912-1000 for more information.
