Salt Lake City, Utah – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, dropped their third straight game falling to the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday night by a score of 5-3 at the Maverik Center.
The Americans scored the first goal of the game as David Makowski ripped one past Utah goalie Kevin Carr on the power play to put Allen up 1-0. Cole Ully would tie the score halfway through the first period firing a puck through a screen that beat Jeremy Brodeur. The game was even at 1-1 after the first period.
For the second night in a row, Utah would score three times in the second period building a 4-1 lead. The Americans didn’t quit putting up a fight in the third to close the gap to one goal. David Makowski netted his second of the night at 12:19 to make it 4-2. Alex Breton scored on the power play with the extra attacker on the ice to make it 4-3 at 17:46 of the third. Caleb Herbert ended the Americans hope of a complete comeback scoring an empty-net goal with 33-seconds left in regulation as the Grizzlies held on for a 5-3 win.
The Americans resume the road trip on Tuesday night in Tulsa. The Americans next home game is November 30th against Wichita.
