Salt Lake City, Utah – The Allen Americans and Utah Grizzlies resume their ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs First Round Series tonight at 8:00 PM Central Time from the Maverik Center in Utah.

The two clubs split the first two games of the series in Allen, with the Americans taking the series opener and Utah winning Game 2 last Friday night. The Americans offense was held in-check in that second game, only lighting the lamp one time which had some Allen fans worried, but that was not the case in the Americans locker room.

“We’ll give their goalie credit. He made some big saves, but we didn’t make him work hard enough,” said Americans Co-Captain Chad Costello. “We need to get more pressure in front of their net and score a few more ugly goals.”

Allen outshot the Grizzlies 17 to 5 in the final period, but was only able to beat Utah goalie Kevin Boyle once in the final frame on Josh Brittain’s first goal of the playoffs.

The Americans high-powered offense has been quiet so far, with some of Allen’s top players at one or none in the points category, which could be good news for Americans fans and bad news for Utah if the offense starts clicking.

“It’s just a matter of time before we start scoring,” said Americans defenseman David Makowski. “We have way too much firepower in our lineup not too. We had a great skate this morning and everyone is ready to get going tonight.”

Allen was held to just two power play opportunities in Game 2, going 0 for 2 with the man-advantage, while Utah went 1 for 5. Riley Gill will get the start again tonight for Allen. Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson hinted their might be a change or two in the Allen lineup tonight, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
