Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans host the Wichita Thunder tonight at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center. Pregame activities begin at 4:00 PM today outside the arena.
The Americans can clinch a playoff spot tonight in the ECHL Mountain Division with a win, or a loss by Missouri, or overtime or shootout loss to Wichita. If the Americans clinch tonight, it would be the 8th straight season that the team has qualified for the playoffs.
“It will be nice to make that happen tonight, but we have bigger plans than just clinching a playoff spot,” said Americans forward Chad Costello. “We have a team that’s built for a long playoff run. We won’t be satisfied unless we’re still playing hockey in late May and early June.”
Allen is four points behind Colorado with 10 games remaining. Both teams were victorious last night, as Allen topped Wichita 5-3 and Colorado beat Utah 5-2.
Greger Hanson extended his point streak to 11 games with last night’s team-leading 33rd goal of the season. Hanson is fourth overall in the ECHL in goals. Chad Costello is two behind Hanson with 31. Allen is the only team in the ECHL with two 30-plus goal scorers.
The Americans will host pregame tailgate outside the arena beginning at 4:00 PM this afternoon that includes a beer garden and more. Come early and join the fun.
