AMERICANS FALL TO THE EVERBLADES 4-1

Estero, Florida – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, dropped a 4-1 decision to the Florida Everblades on Saturday night at Germain Arena.
For the second game in a row, the Florida Everblades scored the first goal of the game as Mitchell Heard netted his 16th of the season late in the opening period to put the home team on top 1-0 .Florida outshot Allen 12 to 7 in the opening frame.
The Everblades extended their lead to 2-0 in the second period when Joe Cox scored on a breakaway beating Stephon Williams 5-hole for his 16th of the year. His goal would be the game winner, as the Americans would manage just one goal on Saturday night. Joel Chouinard scored on the power play at 13:19 of the second period to cut the lead to 2-1. It was Chouinard’s 200th career point.
Florida added goals from Matt Berry and Justin Kea in the third period to extend their lead to 4-2 sending the Americans packing with a three-game losing streak. Allen went 1 for 5 on the power play while Florida went 0 for 3.
The Allen Americans wrap up the five-game road trip on Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville at 2:00 pm CST. The Americans return home next weekend to meet Utah on Friday and Saturday night on Olympic Weekend in Allen. The first 1500 kids through the doors 12 and under will receive an Allen Americans youth jersey
