Allen Americans vs Kansas City Mavericks

AMERICANS DROP PRESEASON OPENER

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks dropped their preseason opener to the Kansas City Mavericks, 3-1 at Allen Event Center Community Rink.

Eric Roy, scored on the power play for Allen to give the Americans a 1-0 lead after the opening period. Peter MacArthur and Olivier Archambault assisted on Roy’s first of the preseason.

Kansas City would score three unanswered goals, two of them coming on the power play as they would hold on for a 3-1 victory. Allen goalie Stephon Williams started the game and looked sharp stopping 26 of 27 Kansas City shots. Williams was replaced by Charlie Finn in the third period. Finn stopped four of six shots in just over 17 minutes work.

Allen played without several key players tonight including; Riley Gill, Vincent Arseneau, Joel Chouinard and Casey Pierro-Zabotel.

About the Americans
The Allen Americans play in the ECHL, the premiere AA hockey league in North America. The Americans were established in 2009 and have won four AA championships in eight full seasons of minor pro hockey. In those eight seasons, Allen has qualified for the playoffs every year with five trips to the league finals. Allen will enter its fourth season in the ECHL this October, after playing five years in the now defunct Central Hockey League.
