Jacksonville, Florida – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, closed out their five-game road swing with a 3-1 win over Jacksonville this afternoon at Memorial Coliseum.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Zach Pochiro and Bryan Moore all scored for Allen on Sunday afternoon. Zach Pochiro’s rebound goal, his 11th of the season in the second period turned out to be the game winner for Allen, which ended it’s losing streak at three games.
“We needed this one, said Americans forward Zach Pochiro. “We didn’t start the game very well but finished strong. Brodeur (Jeremy) was strong in net and our leaders stepped up and made plays”
The Americans took five out of a possible ten points on the five game road trip with wins in Tulsa and Jacksonville, and a point earned in a shootout loss in Atlanta. The Americans lost back to back games to Florida on Friday and Saturday.
Jeremy Brodeur stopped 32 of 33 shots to pick up his 14th win of the season. The Americans went 0 for 5 on the power play while Jacksonville was 1 for 6.
The Americans return home to face the Utah Grizzles next Friday and Saturday night at Allen Event Center on Olympic weekend. The first 1,500 kids 12 and under through the doors next Saturday will receive an Americans replica jersey courtesy of Globe Life.
