Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, and Globe Life announced today that the Allen Americans have signed Olivier Archambault to a contract for the 2017-2018 season.

“The Americans always have a top team,” said Olivier Archambault “I know a couple guys who played in Allen, including Joel Chouinard, and he had nothing but great things to say about the team.  I’m an offensive player, but work hard defensively as well. I’m excited to get to Texas in late September.”

Olivier Archambault is a former fourth round draft pick of the Montreal Canadians, taken 108th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He began his pro career in 2013 with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, Montreal’s former AHL affiliate, where he played in ten games before returning to juniors.

During his time in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he played with three different clubs. He was drafted by Val d’ Or Foreurs in 2009-2010, 1st overall, in the QMJHL entry draft. He scored 12 goals and chipped in 15 assists for 27 points in his first season. The speedy winger also played two seasons with Drummondville, where he had 66 points in 64 games in 2012-2013.

Additionally, he played in 30 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League in 2014 and 2015. He’s played with three different ECHL teams; Alaska in 2014-2015, where he scored 20 goals while adding 38 points in 38 games. Quad City in 2015-2016, where he led the Mallards in points with 52 in just 50 games. Last season in South Carolina he had 24 points in 35 games for the Stingrays, and was tied for third in playoff points with 17.

“He’s a proven player with lots of skill,” said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson.

The native of Le Gardeur, PQ stands 6-feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. He will turn 25 years old this February. He has played in 163 professional games.

The Americans open the regular season on Friday, October 13th in Rapid City, with the home opener on Saturday, October 21st against Orlando. Click here for the complete 2017-2018 schedule.
