AMERICANS ADD SKILLED CENTER ZACH POCHIRO

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, and Globe Life announced today that the team has signed forward Zach Pochiro to a contract for the 2017-2018 season.
Zach Pochiro joins the Allen Americans after playing 42 games last season with the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL), scoring 27 points (3 goals and 24 assists). Born in St Louis, Missouri and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, he stands 6-feet-2 and 185 pounds. He played in four games last season with Bakersfield (AHL), nabbing two assists.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity in Allen,” said new Americans forward Zach Pochiro. “I’m very excited to be a part of a winning environment and make a run at a championship.”
The American-born forward started his hockey career in Texas, playing with the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the North American Hockey League in 2011-2012. In 52 games, he had 34 points. Following his stop in Texas, he played two seasons in the Western Hockey League with Prince George where he had 66 points in 63 games during the 2013-2014 season.
“Zach combines skill and vision on the ice,” said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “He also has a strong corner game.”
The Americans will play two preseason games in early October against the Kansas City Mavericks at Allen Event Center Community Rink on Friday, October 6th at 8:45 pm and Saturday, October 7th at 5:30 pm. Details on tickets in the coming weeks.
About the Americans
The Allen Americans play in the ECHL, the premiere AA hockey league in North America. The Americans were established in 2009 and have won four AA championships in eight full seasons of minor pro hockey. In those eight seasons, Allen has qualified for the playoffs every year with five trips to the league finals. Allen will enter its fourth season in the ECHL this October, after playing five years in the now defunct Central Hockey League.
