Kansas City, MO – The Allen Americans completed a trade today with the Manchester Monarchs, adding power forward Alex Guptill from Manchester. Guptill completes the deal that sent defenseman Rick Pinkston to the Monarchs on Saturday.
Alex Guptill was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft taken 77th overall. He played in five games with the Texas Stars in the 2013-2014 season and had two points in five games. Guptill was part of the Dallas trade with Ottawa that sent Jason Spezza to the Stars.
Guptill was traded from Ottawa to Buffalo last season as part a of multi-player deal. He played in 20 games last year with the Sabres AHL affiliate, Rochester Americans, where he had eight points (3 goals and 5 assists).
In eight games this season with Manchester, Guptill had three goals and three assists along with 11 penalty minutes.
The former University of Michigan product is expected to join his teammates in time for practice tomorrow and play in Tuesday morning’s game against the Missouri Mavericks.
The Americans have won two straight games and are looking for a 3-1 road trip. Allen returns home to play the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, November 19th. Tickets are on sale NOW at www.ticketmaster.com.
