Allen Americans vs Utah Grizzlies

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, finished last week with a record of 1-2-0-1, with losses to Atlanta on Tuesday and Florida on Friday and Saturday. The Americans closed the road trip with a 3-1 win on Sunday in Jacksonville.  Allen hosts Utah this Friday and Saturday at Allen Event Center. 


Last Week’s Record:  1-2-0-1

Overall record:  25-20-4-2 56 points- Third overall in the Mountain Division.

Tuesday, February 6th @ Atlanta – 3-2 SO Loss

Atlanta, Georgia – The Americans dropped a 3-2 decision in a shootout on Tuesday night in Atlanta. Allen scored with 22 seconds left in regulation to take a 2-1 lead, but Atlanta responded with the game-tying goal with 0.5 seconds left in regulation. Zach Pochiro had the only Allen goal in the shootout. Box score


Friday, February 9th @ Florida – 4-0 Loss

Estero, Florida – The Americans were shut out for the fourth times this season, blanked by the Florida Everblades 4-0 on Friday night. The Americans were 0 for 8 on the power play and had a season-low 19 shots on goal.  Box Score 


Saturday, February 10th @ Florida – 4-1 Loss

Estero, Florida – The Florida Everblades swept the two-game set with the Americans, winning 4-1 on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Joel Chouinard had the only goal for Allen, his 10th of the season and 200th career point.  Box Score

Sunday, February 11th @ Jacksonville – 3-1 Win

Jacksonville, Florida – The Americans snapped a 3-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon win a 3-1 victory over the Jacksonville Icemen. Zach Pochiro’s 11th goal of the season turned out to be the game winner for Allen. Rookie goalie Jeremy Brodeur stopped 32 of 33 shots to earn his 14th win of the year.  Box Score

About the Americans

The Allen Americans play in the ECHL, the premiere AA hockey league in North America. The Americans were established in 2009 and have won four AA championships in seven full seasons of minor pro hockey. In those nine seasons, Allen has qualified for the playoffs every year with five trips to the league finals in that time. Allen is in its fourth season in the ECHL after playing five years in the now defunct Central Hockey League.
