Jack David Gulati was born in India on September 20, 1942. His family immigrated to America in 1958 when he was fifteen years old. He attended high school in New York City and graduated in 1959. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota, and after a somewhat circuitous route, he received B.S. in Mathematics in 1966.

For fifty years Jack Gulati has been a serial entrepreneur. Currently he owns two ECHL Hockey teams; the Reading Royals and the Allen Americans. During his entrepreneur years, Jack has owned Forty-Three Companies Worldwide. However, at all times, he has always kept business and family in focus and has learned to balance both for ultimate success. He has written a book on this subject in the hope that others may learn from his experience.

There is something in his DNA that just does not allow him to retire. While on his third try at retirement, he heard that the Reading Royals, a professional hockey team, playing in Reading, Pennsylvania, were in danger of being moved out of City. Therefore, he came out of retirement and in April 2014 and he bought the Reading Royals. Most recently in February 2017 he bought Allen Americans, located in Allen, Texas, a Dallas suburb. Both of these teams play in the professional hockey league, the ECHL.

In 1988, Jack established Fidelity Technologies in Reading. By 2004 Fidelity had grown to 225 employees, and he sold the company to his three sons. Under their leadership, the company has continued to expand. In 1993, he acquired Swiss-based TeleAlarm SA. By 2006, this company had become the second largest provider of health care systems for the elderly living at home in Europe, that Jack sold TeleAlarm to Bosch Healthcare, of Germany.

In December, 2011 he turned over Stokesay Castle, along with three other companies to his three sons and retired for the third time. In 2015 they bought Sunnybrook, a large Restaurant and Banquet facility in Pottstown, PA.

Over the years Jack has served in numerous civic and advisory positions. He was appointed to the Small Business Advisory Committee of FCC by President George H. W. Bush. He was also a delegate to the 1986 and 1995 White House Conferences on Small Business appointed by Presidents Reagan and Clinton. He served as chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses of Pennsylvania. He was Chairman of the Board of Township Supervisors in Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served on the Board of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; where they honored him by presenting to him an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree.

In 1993 and 1994, he was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Central Pennsylvania. Jack is a 1966 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Liberal Arts, with a degree in Mathematics. In 2014 Jack received the distinction of being an Alumni of Notable Achievement Award, Of the 148,000 living graduates, approximately 1,300 have been selected for this award. He and his wife, Rosemary, have three sons, David, Charles, and Michael, and eleven grandchildren. He divides his time among Reading, PA; Bonita Springs, FL; and Avalon, NJ.
