AMERICANS SIGN SKILLED FORWARD, GARY STEFFES

August 15th, 2014 by Tommy Daniels

Allen, TX—The Allen Americans and Head Coach Steve Martinson announced the signing today of Forward Gary Steffes to the 2014-2015 roster.

The 6’2, 210 lb. Center from Grand Blanc, MI, attended college at Miami of Ohio University (2006-2010) where he led his team to a regular season championship during his senior year.

“I always thought he was a really solid all-around player who stays in good shape.” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “Gary works hard and will be a great fit here. He was always creating offense when he played against Allen.”

Steffes began his pro career with the Tulsa Oilers in 2010, where he was named to the CHL All-Rookie Team, netting 19 goals and 24 assists in his first pro season. Over his three seasons with the Oilers, he averaged just over 20 goals a season, scoring 62 total and earning 132 points. He spent last season with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL, where he scored 21 goals and contributed 44 points.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the Allen Americans,” said Steffes. “Having played against Allen in the past, I know how tough this building is to win in. I had quite a few opportunities this off-season, but Allen was the best fit for me and it’s where I want to play. I feel very blessed to be a part of this squad and I look forward to putting on the red sweater.”

The Americans open training camp at Allen Event Center on October 10th with the schedule announcement coming soon. Season Tickets for the 2014-2015 season are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com or call (972) 912-1000.
