AMERICANS EXPLODE FOR SEVEN GOALS IN THE THIRD AND BEAT RAPID CITY 9-3

Rapid City, SD – The Allen Americans beat the Rapid City Rush for a second night in a row, this time by a score of 9-3 at Rushmore Civic Center. Allen erupted for seven goals in the final frame to send the Rush fans to the exits early.
Greger Hanson had a five-point night for the Americans with four goals and an assist. He had a natural hat trick scoring the first three Allen goals, including two on the power play. Hanson’s final goal of the night was a shorthanded goal as he moved up to third in the league with 28 goals on the season.
“Our offense came to play tonight,” said Hanson. “We took control in the final period and never let our foot off the gas. This was a big win for us, as we continue to be in tight battle for first place in our division.
Other goal scorers for Allen on Friday night included; Bryan Moore (19), Jon Martin (1), Dyson Stevenson (8), Chad Costello (26), and Derek Mathers (6).
The game also featured a brawl in the third period that saw Americans forward Dyson Stevenson get speared by Rapid City forward Triston Grant. Stevenson was cut in three different spots on his face that required several stitches following the game. Bryan Moore had 24 total penalty minutes in the game that included a game misconduct. 78 combined penalty minutes between the two teams.
With three more points on Friday, Chad Costello is now seven away from another 100-point season. Costello has 93, while Greger Hanson is fourth overall in the ECHL with 58, and only two points behind second place Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who has 60.
The victory kept Allen in a tie with Colorado for first place in the Mountain Division with 66 points each. Rapid City brings up the rear in the division with 38 points.
The same two clubs battle it out tomorrow night at 8:05 PM CST from the Black Hills. The Americans return home for four games starting next Wednesday night against Indy.
